Notto · Terms
The rules of the road.
Short version: use Notto however it helps. Don't do anything nasty. Subscriptions renew until you cancel. That's most of it.
Who you're dealing with
Notto is an iPhone app designed, built, and maintained by Yoav Chen, an independent developer. When these terms say "we" or "Notto," that means Yoav. When they say "you," that's whoever is using the app. Questions go to notto@yoavchu.com.
Using the app
Notto is free to download. A free account includes one active notto per day — a daily slot that resets when the date changes. Unlimited nottos, plus a handful of smaller touches, are unlocked with a paid plan (see below).
You agree to use Notto only for lawful personal purposes. Don't use it to store anything illegal, don't try to break the app, and don't attempt to reverse-engineer or tamper with how it works. If you do, your right to use it ends.
Subscriptions and purchases
Notto offers three paid options through Apple's In-App Purchase system. All charges are handled by Apple — Notto never sees or stores your payment details.
- Notto+ Weekly. Auto-renewing subscription billed every week at the price shown in the App Store. Renews automatically until you cancel. Auto-renew
- Notto+ Yearly. Auto-renewing subscription billed every year at the price shown in the App Store. Includes a 3-day free trial for new subscribers — your Apple ID is charged the full yearly price when the trial ends unless you cancel at least 24 hours before that. Renews automatically until you cancel. Auto-renew 3-day trial
- Notto+ Lifetime. One-time purchase at the price shown in the App Store. No recurring charge. Eligible for Family Sharing. One-time
Exact prices are displayed on the paywall inside the app in your local currency. Apple sets the exchange rates, tax rates, and payment methods available in your region.
Trials, renewals, and cancellation
You will not be charged during the 3-day free trial for Notto+ Yearly. If you keep the trial running, your Apple ID is charged the yearly price at the end of the 3 days, and every year after that, until you cancel. Each Apple ID is eligible for the introductory free trial only once per subscription group.
You can cancel any subscription any time from iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Notto, or through apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions. Inside Notto, there is also a shortcut under Settings → Subscription → Manage subscription. Cancelling stops the next renewal — you keep access until the end of the current paid period.
Deleting the Notto app does not cancel a subscription. You must cancel through Apple as described above.
Refunds
Because Apple is the seller of record for App Store purchases, refund requests go through Apple, not through us. You can request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com. Apple decides the outcome under its own policies.
What you get when you're paid
An active paid plan removes the 1-notto-per-day cap and unlocks any premium features described in the paywall at the time of purchase. Features may evolve over time. Nothing that is currently premium will silently move out of the free tier and become paid-retroactive for your existing plan — if that ever changed, it would be announced before taking effect.
If your subscription lapses
If a subscription ends or is refunded, your existing nottos are not deleted. You can still read, edit, toggle, and delete them. Creating a new notto reverts to the free tier: one active notto per day.
Intellectual property
The Notto app, its design, the name "Notto," the wordmark, the tomato/butter palette, and all accompanying copy are owned by Yoav Chen. Your use of Notto does not transfer any of that to you. What you type inside the app — the nottos themselves, slip notes, your name — remains yours. We don't claim any ownership over the content you create.
No accounts, no cloud, no backup
Notto does not run user accounts or servers. Everything you create lives on your iPhone, inside a private iOS App Group. If you delete the app, iOS removes that data and there is no way for us to restore it. Please refer to the Privacy Policy for the full picture.
Third-party services
To process subscriptions and verify entitlement state, Notto uses Apple In-App Purchase (which is how all digital subscriptions work on iOS) and RevenueCat as a thin management layer. Apple and RevenueCat receive purchase identifiers and anonymized device metadata necessary to verify your subscription status. Neither Notto, Apple, nor RevenueCat ever sees the text of your nottos or any content you create inside the app. See the Privacy Policy for more.
Disclaimers
Notto is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent allowed by law, Yoav Chen disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, and non-infringement. Notto is a tool that helps you make fewer decisions. It is not medical, psychological, financial, or legal advice.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, Yoav Chen is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of Notto. Direct liability for any claim is capped at the amount you paid for Notto in the 12 months preceding the claim, or USD 50, whichever is greater. Some jurisdictions do not allow limits like this; where that applies, these limits apply only to the extent permitted.
Termination
You can stop using Notto any time by deleting the app and, if applicable, cancelling your subscription through Apple. We can suspend or terminate access if the terms here are violated, or if required by law. If Notto is ever discontinued, unused portions of an active subscription will be refunded through Apple where required by Apple's policies.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Israel, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute not resolvable through good-faith conversation first will be handled by the competent courts of Tel Aviv-Yafo, Israel. Nothing in this clause limits any mandatory consumer rights you have under your local law.
Changes to these terms
If these terms ever need to change, the new version replaces the old one at the same URL and the "last updated" date gets bumped. Material changes — especially anything that changes pricing, auto-renewal, or your paid benefits — will also be announced inside the app or on the App Store release notes before taking effect. Continuing to use Notto after that constitutes acceptance.
